Online tickets are timed with your entry time, and you are allowed to enter 30 minutes before to 30 minutes after your selected entry time. We used the Aquarium website to preorder and print tickets in advance of our arrival - which allowed us to skip the box office and walk directly into the Aquarium upon arrival. We brought a portable stroller to push the 1-year-old around. There were eight in our party which included a 12-year-old and two children - a 2-year-old and a 1-year-old. This is not our first visit to the Aquarium, but we always find it fun and entertaining each time. It is only a one-hour drive away and offers lots of fun, kid friendly and adult friendly activities as well as unique photo ops for memories. We decided on the Adventure Aquarium in Camden. I googled "discount adventure aquarium tickets" and got a great discount code that saved $25 off the regular price!ĭuring a visit of my relatives from Brooklyn to New Jersey we tried to come up with a good place for a Family Day trip to create some happy memories for everyone of the visit. We loved the hippo exhibit! I think a visit when the outdoor areas are open and accessible would allow people to spread out more. The aquarium itself is a standard set up.walking around the outside of the tank with viewing windows. People also need to realize they cannot stop in the middle of a hallway with a baby coach and their family members. Once inside and through security, the place was packed with baby strollers! There is not enough room for people to maneuver through the common areas. We proceeded to the entrance (entrance sign) only to find that it wasn't the entrance? We were directed back to a random set of doors with a rock holding it open? There were no staff directing the guests that were outside of the marked lines and down the sidewalk. We had purchased tickets online to avoid the ticket line. It was a crowded Saturday morning around 11:00am. We visited the aquarium with our grandchildren. As we left around 2:00 the lines wound around the building with no improvement in the weather. We only had to wait out in the bitter cold for a brief time. My advise would be to arrive as close to opening time (10:00 a.m.) as possible. Not being a fastfood aficionado I found the smell of all that grease a bit off putting There are also a number of child play areas but they really aren't necessary and certainly a distraction to the original purpose of going to the aquarium.Īll in all it was quite a pleasant way to spend the day. As soon as you enter the building there was a huge concession selling food! Every so often you ran into yet another fastfood location. The one rather strange part was all of the various food courts. There are a number of areas where anyone can pet/touch starfish, stingrays, and other such ocean dwelling animals. There was not enough time to see everything in one day and sadly the penguin exhibit will have to wait for another time. With encouragement he did make it across. The two year old was not quite sure and it states that no child can be carried they must walk on their own. There is a suspended bridge, completely enclosed with cargo netting over a pool of sharks. The hippos were very interesting and fun to watch playing with a ball. They even had a beautiful African Grey parrot in an aviary. There are terrariums with spiders, frogs, turtles and such. There are beautiful aquariums with exotic fish - my favorite was the large yellow tropical fish. The name is misleading as the exhibits include all kinds of animals. Recently we took my grandsons to the Adventure Aquarium in Camden, NJ. Oh and try and go when the weather is nice so you can stroll the promenade outside and enjoy the great river views. I would have been pretty disappointed if I paid full price for a family of four. Just be sure you have a promo code or some sort of discount coupon. So the $25 stuffed shark I bought doesn’t just help maintain the penguins, it supports a corporate entity. Mind you, the aquarium is no longer a non-profit it’s a for profit venture. You exit their best exhibit through a giant gift shop and along the way there were plenty of professionals willing to take your photo for a fee. Otherwise admission for 4 would gave been more than $100! Inside also turned me off as we passed claw machines, multiple food concessions, dippin dot machines and massage chairs. Luckily they had a promotion going so my two kids were free. What turned me off about AA was the expense. The other exhibits were certainly fine but nothing extraordinary or particularly exotic. Unfortunately, the hippos were not on display but I would imagine them to be the second best attraction. Shark tunnel was very cool and by far the highlight. AA is a fairly small aquarium but certainly enjoyable enough.
